when will I learn...
Jun. 2nd, 2003 05:14 pmto keep my mouth shut about things on Quartz?
I mean really. My choice of words may not have been the best, but it baffles me how quickly things turn into quasi-flame wars there. And some of the "big players" in flame-war world haven't even commented yet.
Ugh.

Date: 2003-06-02 05:59 pm (UTC)I'm reading said posts right now. What you said could have been worded better but I don't think people are really pissed at you or anything (then again I still have 20-some posts to go.) People have strong opinions about things and they're entitled to their opinions just like you're entitled to your own opinion. I hope you won't let the fact that it seems like many people don't share your opinion get you down. If YOU don't stick to your principles, no one else is going to do it for you. *hug*
I don't think it's you.
Date: 2003-06-03 04:59 am (UTC)It's not you personally people are upset with; if you want my opinion on the matter, this is a discussion that has been several years in the making. I have been hearing about the "Quartz Mommy Brigade" (as many have called it, as well as the "Righteous Parents Brigade") since well before I became pregnant with Mr. Wee; just as there is a vocal minority that gives a lot of advice, there is an equally large (if not larger) minority that resents it. That's one of the reasons that I try my best not to give much advice on the hot topics like breastfeeding, and stick to the less explosive ones, like baby gear, if I give advice at all. I have spoken to plenty of people about my experiences working and pumping (and nursing a toddler), but it's been in Mail> and it's been when they asked about it.
