If you're interested in getting something tie-dyed by me, please read this. :)

I am making an order from Dharma Trading tomorrow. If you would like me to tie-dye something for you in the next couple of weeks, I need to order the clothing blanks in this order (unless you're planning on sending me clothing, of course). I can order any piece of clothing that Dharma has in stock. Unless you pick a specific item for me, I will probably default to the Hanes Beefy-T as the "T-shirt" selection. These don't have cotton stitching, so the white thread shows up, but I think they look nice anyway. You can see an example of how this looks on this shirt, one of the toddler shirts I made. (That's also a good representation of the rainbow swirl dye technique.) The white stitching is just barely visible around the sleeves and hem.

For custom orders, I am going to ask that you send me (Paypal works best, if you don't have that we'll figure something out) money for the clothing you want dyed at the time I place the order, and we'll work out how much I'm charging for the dye job and shipping afterward. Most of the clothing blanks are very reasonably priced, and I have a quantity discount *already* going on cotton items, so when you're looking at the price, look in the 12-35 items column.

I already have (or was planning to order anyway) the following dye colors from this page: fuchsia red, lemon yellow, turquoise (the three needed to make a rainbow dyed item), cerulean blue, robins-egg blue, ice blue, seafoam green, forest green, teal blue, orchid, and deep purple. If you would like another dye color I can do that, but it's an additional charge if I have to special order it. :) I can do a variety of dye techniques, including swirl, sunburst, and some free-hand painting, and I'm trying my hand at low-water immersion dyeing tonight for single color items so I'll be able to do that as well.

I will offer first class mail shipping (about $1.50 for a shirt or similar sized item, at cost for heavier items) or priority mail shipping ($3.85), whichever you prefer.

So what I need to know from you, if you do want an item soon, is what clothing blank(s) you want me to order for you (a direct link to the Dharma page is most helpful!) and in what size, and whether the dyes I have will suit your needs. (Let me know the color if you can, just in case I might need more of some color.) We'll figure everything else out after I place the order. :)

If you're not comfortable posting this info, you can email it to me at bafoster(at)mindspring(dot)com. :)

Thanks!

Hey, I was thinking of ordering the starter kit from Dharma for myself to try and learn how to dye. Any revies on their products?

That's what I ordered the first time. I like it. You'll also want to get the "Rainbow Tie Dye" book they have--it's inexpensive and it's a good intro to the different patterns you can do. And once you start buying dye colors you can really go crazy. :)

I'm definitely interested! I'd be doing a matching (well, SORT OF matching, I know that they won't be identical!) set for my kids. Tees are great for the boys (sz 2-4 toddler), but I'd like one of the "cap sleeved lettuce edged dresses" on that site for Fi (sz 6). :) I'm flexible on color so long as they're similar--I've found it easier to keep an eye on all three at the park if they are all wearing the same or similar top that I can spot instantly, so a "Rainbow" would be especially cool). Can you quote me a price, and let me know where to send the paypal stuff. :)

If you like them, I have two 2-4 size t-shirts on my HyenaCart site right now. You could go ahead and get those and then I could order the dress and do it for Fi, if that works for you. The shirts are here (http://www.hyenacart.com/prod_details.php?id=29392&vid=88) and here (http://www.hyenacart.com/prod_details.php?id=13419&vid=88). If you'd rather get me to do new ones and make them more exactly match each other, I can do that too. :)

Otherwise, the blank shirts will be $3.27 each, and the dress will be $9.79. So a total of $16.33, and you can paypal me at bafoster(at)mindspring(dot)com. :)

I think those two look great! It looks like the colors are the same, and I don't mind not having exactly matching patterns (I'd prefer not, actually, so that works out great). So I will go ahead and get those. So that's $15 for the shirts + 9.79 (plus dyejob on the skirt), right? Can you send them all at once (just hang on to the shirts until dress is ready), and combine shipping? ;>

Sure. :) Does $35 including shipping for the whole deal sound good? That will get you priority mail when the stuff is ready. I should be able to do the dress as soon as my order comes in, and will shoot for getting the stuff mailed out to you end of next week or beginning of the following, depending on when I receive the Dharma Trading order.

I forgot....

Is the email addy in your profile the one you use for paypal? Or do I need to send it somewhere else?

i'm not sure if you got my comment on your other post about ordering items, but i have a couple newborn long sleeve shirts and some onesies that need to be dyed because of spit up stains from m, and overall me hating solid white anything. any idea of pricing for little items?

From: [identity profile] bafleyanne.livejournal.com
It would depend on the number of items you want dyed and the number of colors you want on them. For newborn stuff, maybe $2-3 per item depending on the number of colors, plus shipping?

not too much in the way of colours, one or two is fine.. i don't think there's more than 5 items either..

Hi,

I'd like the Bolivian button-back dress ( http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/979329-AA.shtml ) in 2T, if you don't think the pockets would make things complicated. If something else would be better, I'm sure I can find something.

How much more would an extra color be? I'd like red (maybe the rose red?) with yellow for the whole red/yellow/orangey look. What do you think? LMK how much to paypal and all that good stuff.

(Good timing! Today's payday. ;)

That dress should be fine. It costs $5.50, and I'll charge $2 for the extra color, so you can paypal me $7.50 (or for that matter, we could hang out sometime and you could just give it to me in person, thus saving the obnoxious paypal credit card fees :)).

And hanging out would be more fun, too. ;) Okay, that works. Tomorrow's nuts because of Dave's company picnic, but I'm working T-Th for the rest of the month (I think).

Maybe plan something for next Friday? I should (hopefully) be able to get the dress done before then.

I always have this discussion with Dave, and we've never figured it out. ;) Does "next Friday" mean a week from yesterday, or two weeks from yesterday? Either is fine, I just need to know which to figure out car repair stuff.

*grin* In this case, I meant it to mean "the Friday in the week that's coming up, which is a week from yesterday." :)

Okay, I asked Dave to check my calendar and see if I'm working that day, and he said no, but he neglected to mention that I do have a meeting at 12:30 next Friday. Doh. It will probably only be about half an hour or so, but that'd take us into Hannah's naptime. I could do before naptime/meeting or after naptime, whichever works. We can come up with something. :)
